Job Description
This role focuses on installing, updating, and servicing low voltage systems in commercial and retail environments across the Hampton Roads and greater Richmond areas. You will work with low voltage electricity (0–50 volts) to support security, audio, video, access control, and telecommunications systems in active businesses such as retail stores, restaurants, and office buildings. The position requires strong technical aptitude, the ability to work independently, and a flexible schedule to support both day and night work as needed.

Work Environment
The work environment consists primarily of retail and commercial spaces, including grocery stores, clothing stores, restaurants, and other active businesses that remain open while work is performed. Technicians regularly work around customers and store staff, so professionalism and awareness of surroundings are essential. The role involves a rotating day and night shift schedule, and technicians share responsibility for occasional out-of-town assignments, requiring flexibility with working hours and travel. You will work with low voltage systems (0–50 volts), copper LAN and telephone wiring, and fiber optic cabling, using tools and equipment for installing, terminating, and testing CAT5, CAT6, coax, and related infrastructure. The position requires regular use of computers, tablets, and smartphones for documentation, communication, and accessing installation manuals. The company maintains a strict no-smoking policy, and employees must agree to comply with this standard as part of the permanent workforce. The organization emphasizes safety, consistency, and long-term employment, hiring only when there is a sustained need and avoiding layoffs whenever possible.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $30.00/hr.
