Gulf Coast Water Taxi is the operator of the Gulf Islands Ferry which operates Wednesday through Sunday so you must be available these days. We also will operating on other days depending on events or seasonality.

Gulf Coast Water Taxi is dedicated to providing a safe waterborne transportation experience in a fun, fast and reliable method to the best destinations in Manatee County.

JOB DESCRIPTION: as a Mate/Deckhand, you will work on our vessel as part of our crew. You will be in direct contact with our customers and will be in charge of providing a safe and fun boating experience.

Duties include:
- Greeting/welcoming customers as they walk on board
- Answering any questions about the service and/or the area
- Taking payment and checking guests in
- Securing the vessel at each stop
- Assisting customers as they embark and disembark
- Cleaning the vessel at the beginning of each shift

The Deckhand position is overseen by the Captain on duty, who reports to the Lead Captain.

CANDIDATE SKILLS: The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Customer awareness skills with a natural desire to understand people and what makes them tick
- Acute reporting and safety skills
- An enthusiastic approach with a will to learn
- A good level of written and verbal communication
- Multi-tasking skills
- A strong eye for detail and accuracy
- A team player attitude
- Basic math and money handling understanding

REQUIREMENTS:

All candidates must:
- Have reliable transportation to and from work every day. - Be 21 of age or older
- Be able to pass a Drug Test at hiring and be prepared for random Drug Screening throughout employment.
- Have open availability for second shifts, weekends and holidays.

Job Type: Part-time/Full-Time
Salary: $15.00 hour plus tip split
